Religion in colonial modernity is central to contestations over how humans should relate to the earth, and, by extension, to other humans. Eurochristian colonial traditions develop political theologies to establish private property regimes while most Indigenous traditions conceptualize relationships to land non-possessively. Beyond theological and philosophical conceptualities, lived religious and spiritual practices taken up in relation to land, particularly in highly contested struggles over the right use of particular plots of land, provide important insights not only into the centrality of land within religious and spiritual traditions but the indispensable role of religious and spiritual practice in mediating political-environmental transformation.

Free boxed lunch will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. This event is free and open to the public
